Awoken in an unfamiliar land Empty Awoken in an unfamiliar land

[• ]It seemed that not too long ago the wind was calm, all was still and right for a long rest. That suddenly changed when a special disturbance drew him from neutral position and into an unfamiliar land. Aside from having been in a laying position, and moist grass replacing the bed he was once in, the change of scenery wasn't so bad. The area had a heavy feel of magic and energy, the distinct sights and smells of autumn. There was a bitter chill to the air, and the wind was more the still. Bringing himself upright, he would example the leather boots and pants he wore. Getting extensive dirt and moisture on his clothing was something he would rather not have. The leather vest he had on would be covered by the robe he wore, so there would be no issues as far as that would be concerned. The robe was of darkened silk, an Eld Alloy weaved into the fabric to add to the durability. The collar reached up to the jawline, ending at the back of his knees. Across this robe would be a leather strap that went over the right shoulder and kept a sheathed, sleek blade secure at his left hip. His hands would go out before him, palms toward the sky. He looked at the gauntlet-clad left, and the bare right. The right would be brought to his face, feeling his features. As his hand went up to set his finger through his hair, he felt the shaved sides, the brushed back curls of his crownpiece. His hair and face felt like his own, his attire was his own. How odd that the world had suddenly felt like a dream, yet more real than the one he had known somehow. Nearby there was a small hut, further on there would be a tree line, yet one tree in particular caught his interest. How curious..

Making the Brisk walk it would take to come upon the door of the nearby hut, he would give the wooden door a push and step inside. There was a desk to the right corner, a bed frame to the left with a mattress of straw for support, cotton layered over it. This was obvious due to the one loose corner, a piece of stray poking from the lower side of the corner while a bushel of cotton just barely squeezed out of the top. Someone had improvised, and did so well enough. Between the two, in the center would be a circle formation of nice, hefty rocks. a metal stand would hold a pot over a long extinguished fire. A small bookcase would be beside the desk and it was indeed filled. Each of the two shelves on the small case would be, for the most part, filled. Near the very foot of the bed would be a trunk, a very warm looking cover was neatly folded upon it and on that would be a large bundle of folded shirts and pants. Likely of cotton, nothing fancy to be noted, at least not from what he saw. To the closer left corner there was a stack of wood blocks that reach the five or so feet from that corner to the bookcase that was set against the desk. A second trunk would be in the closer right corner, the strong smell of vegetables coming from it. Being autumn, likely to have the associated things that the harvest season would bring. Such as Leeks, pumpkin, carrot, cabbage, potatoes, and so on. The hut was more spacious than expected, but it had a comfortability to it.

There had been enough inspection of the hut. Turning to leave the hut, he would leave the wooden door ajar and linger the area awhile longer. His eyes taking in the area and the grass, the color of the sky. He took a brief amount of time getting a feel for the new atmosphere and how things appeared as he absentmindedly wandered near the tree line. After the aimless exploration ended and he could recall his interest beyond the tree line, to the one tree with rather unique and twisted roots, he would make his way there. So many different feelings and energies lingered in the area. That mythical, otherworldly feeling some would speak of. Only some could actually feel it and make note of it's presence enough to speak of it or assure themselves that something was different with confidence. As he drew near to the tree, the effort to become accustomed to the new feelings and energies in the area would lead him to take notice of something else. There was no something of something..more like someone? He had yet to cross paths with any other being, so there was even more interest than there would have been otherwise. Curiosity would take it's hold.[• ]

Thick strings of gray cotton covered the nightly sky. Blotting out any and all light from the stars above, banning even the moon to a realm of utter darkness. Trees stood tall and strong, their roots reaching deep beneath the earth and anchoring them there. Grown strong through the many storm the eternal autumn brought. The whip of thunder cracked faintly in the distance, slowly welcomed by the calm drip of rain. It was cold. Like needles slowly piercing her skin. Chilling the very bones in her body. Death’s embrace… Without warning her eyes snapped open and she clawed at the damp earth beneath her feet. A scent of rotting leaves filled her lungs, overwhelming, suffocating almost. Between the roots of the ancient twisted trees a living being had woken. Amidst the decay of the world. And yet something wasn’t right. Wheezing the figure sat itself up, gripping the front of an already soaked shirt. It stung again. Pain shot through her body, her back ached, her mind silent as she tried to figure out what didn’t fit with the image. This wasn’t where she had laid herself to rest. This most certainly wasn’t the old barn of a poor farmer getting ready to sow the first seed of spring. Nausea set in as she attempted to move more. Before long the woman sat on her knees, hands firmly planted on the ground in a fight to keep the light in her eyes on, and not slip away into that darkness again. A fight she was bound to lose. Magic lingered around this place. So much that even she, with a weak affinity to it, could easily sense it. Muscles grew weak, slowly giving in to the whispers of the trees and rain. And something else. Something she couldn’t wrap her mind around. The ground came closer and once more she was embraced by that neigh unbearable cold. The lights went out. Perhaps this was yet again an end to the story which had dragged on for too long.

[• ]Just as he would draw nearer to the tree, he brought a hand up to his right ear. A pop? That fading noise..Ah, Thunder. It wasn't until an audible enough sound rang out that he'd begin to pick up any actual noise from anything other than his thoughts, which were quite silent. Then a plop of rain landed atop his head, then his boot. A moment after it was raining. Having been loo around quite a bit, rain should have easily been noticed. The view and interest he had was all energy and aesthetic, he wasn't attuned to anything else. He took a moment to listen to the sounds of the weather and drops of rain as he picked up a rustling. He turned his attention to the treat he had found some lingering interest in and paused. "..Incredible." He had spoken in genuine awe, staring and simply standing there. It wasn't until a moment after when he realized something was wrong that he had calmly made his way to her, dropping to his left knee. He did nothing and said nothing, only observing her at first. She was in no position to reject or oppose aid, so he would have no difficulty in getting her to safety. He would adjust her, so that she was upon her back, and lift her. She would be cradled in his arms as he looked down upon her and shook his head. It was his worry that he could not get to the hut fast enough to prevent further injury or harm to her, not in this way. He released her lower half so that her feet would touch the ground. Taking her left arm, he would pull her close and rotate her around to his back as he couched a bit. Pulling her legs around his waist in such a way that would not obstruct his blade, and her arms around his neck, he peered up at the tree tops above. His grip upon her arms around keep her secure even if she came to, resisted or began to panic. In a sudden burst, they would be sent flying over the tops of the trees and soaring through the air. Now came the part where he had to ensure a safe landing. With legs extended, he leaned back and prepared for impact. Landing dangerously close to the wooden door, his boots made contact with the ground and he bent his knees, dropping into the landing with just enough motion and suave to prevent any backlash. A sharp exhale escaped him.

He walked into the door and let his walk force the door open, quickly making his way to the bed as be laid her down upon it. Rushing to the door, he would close it, returning to her to very quickly and assertively remove all of her clothing and place them onto the desk. Moving over to the chest with the cover and clothing upon it, he would toss the clothing over to the desk and pull the cover up and onto the bed. He would tuck the corners and edges of the cover under her and bring the top edge to her chin. He then made his way over to the corner of the hut where the wood was, placing a block on the fireplace and setting two down nearby. He moved over to the chest with the vegetables stored within and took out three potatoes, tossing them into the pot that hung under the steel holding fixture that rested over the fireplace. With a snap directed toward the fireplace, an energetic fire sprung to life at his command, given birth by his spark.

With the fire now going and food being made on top of it, heat began to fill the hut. He would glance back at the woman who would left firmly bound in warm in a warm cover. If her body gave off any heat, the cover would surely keep it locked in around her, while the area inside the hut would be warmed by the heat of the fire and food. He would make his way over to her, dropping to his left knee at her bedside. Had she come to this place in the same way he did, and was she going to be alright? He refrained from looking at her or observing her further. He could only recall that at first sight, even at feeling her aura, that she was special. Beautiful. A word he rarely to ever used to describe any being. His thoughts would turn to the new world they were in, what did It have in store, were there any threats to be encountered? In time, that was sure to be learned.[• ]

Awoken in an unfamiliar land Empty Re: Awoken in an unfamiliar land

Post by Sinderi Mon Feb 15, 2016 11:03 pm

Muscles convulsed and contorted rapidly in an attempt to warm themselves. Whatever had gone on had interfered quite heavily with the usual flow of energy running through her being. A voice begged for her to stay awake, while another sang a sweet lullaby to keep her asleep. Was this a dream? No. It was too real to be a dream, far too real. Blisters had formed on hands and feet where the rain and cold had been allowed to dwell for too long. Those who didn’t know better might find themselves confused, heck, even those who did might scratch the back of their head and frown. The red skin and blisters were signs of frostbite. Yet it was far too warm still for such a phenomenon. Alas, there were exceptions to these rules. And beings like her, who were born from fire and ashes, were among those who were easily harmed by all that is cold. It all seemed to be connected to the irregular pulse of energy through her body. Like a heartbeat yet very different. It was foul. Corrupted and tainted by a being of a whole different world. A balance that had been disturbed by an outer force. The magic which lingered around the place her body lay perhaps?

Even when the male came near and loomed over her for the slightest moment she didn’t stir. Several marks in the dirt would signal that she had been awake, at some point at least. But god knows how deep she had sunk back into a slumber. At first glance she might have appeared to be a corpse with her pale skin and near white lips. But looks are deceiving. Which the male in question seemed to figure out rather swiftly. Faintly she was aware of how she was moved. She could feel the leather of her heavy traveling cloak shift and pull on her shoulders. She felt how the bandages below her shirt became soaked with the rain, how her hair clung to her pale face and parted around her pointed ears. Yet the thing she noticed the most was the shifting of the leather straps of her beloved dagger on her right thigh. The water had loosened the material slightly, yet not enough to let it slip off. Faintly did the black blade hum as its master was moved about and stolen from her resting place, and carried to an unknown location. A silent warning to ears that were not aware of its companion’s voice. Was this a friend? Was it a foe? If it had been the latter why was she being moved, when it was far easier to slit her throat and take her belongings? At the very least she was not a heavy burden to bear. She was light, thin, and above all malnourished. More a skeleton of her former self in a slow struggle of survival.

These little details would become clear to the male once he began removing the soaked clothes. It was a good idea to do so. The longer the cold fabrics clung to her frame the more damage they would do. Though he would most likely be met with hostility the moment she’d figure out her weapon was gone. The layers of bandages, made of a thickly woven cotton, revealed a heavily scarred chest. The scar was rather deep, and had healed poorly. The width and length of it, combined with the depth, could only hint to her being impaled at some point by a claymore of sorts. It would have shattered her sternum and ripped her ribs from her spine. Further down on her abdomen was another trace of mutilation. Yet another poorly healed, deep scar. Literally, it looked as if someone or something had ripped her stomach open and forcefully removed an organ or two, before forcing the wound to close again. Aside from these two features dominating her front there were plenty of other lesser scars. Mainly focused around her vital areas. A few bands around her neck, many more curling over her sides. If she were to be turned over at some point the most prominent feature on her body would become visible. A large labyrinth of black lines pulsing with that odd energy. It ran from the nape of her neck to the small of her back, and spread out over her shoulders and the back of her ribcage. Despite the skin being littered with even more deep scars, easily recognized as the result of whips, that tattoo was still easily visible. As if the shifting skin had no effect on it.

With the temperature in the hut slowly rising, and her body slowly soaking up the warmth and being aided in holding it, she was nudged closer and closer to a point of awakening. It took a while. Well over two hours after she had been brought in did her eyes finally open. She simply stared at the roof of the hut, blinked a couple of times, before turning her head towards the male. Two orbs sharing their color with the flames dancing in the fire pit stared at him. Dazed, their gloss slightly dulled from being pulled out of the cold in an unfamiliar world. Sinderi said nothing. Didn’t really move either. A little more rest was what she needed before she could move properly. Right now, she seemed to act more as if the male was nothing more but a thing existing in her own imagination. An illusion created by the cold that could have been her downfall.

Awoken in an unfamiliar land Empty Re: Awoken in an unfamiliar land

[• ]As the potatoes cooked slow and the room reached greater temperatures, he would shake out and refold her clothes and items, leaving them around the fire, as close as they could be without burning. He had to be sure that any excess moisture did not linger on her items of clothing. She seemed to have quite an adverse response to moisture, or rather the cold. The moisture was more so an issue for the clothing or materials she carried. Bad enough she was found in poor condition, he did not want to have her wake to find her belongings in a damaged state. His mind would wander once more as he prodded the potatoes in the pot with the fork that had rested upon it's edge. Where did this woman come from, and was she friend or foe? He was certain that if she were for, she would pose no threat to him. He was far too confident in his base abilities and skills. Even if she were at peak condition and had serious intent to kill, he would not be intimidated. That was not his opinion toward her, more so to anyone. Anyone he could not beat with raw skill or strength alone, he would beat in strategy and intellect. So the idea of a threat was not one to be bothered with. Had someone posed a threat to her, or had the elements themselves been such a danger to her? He was left with more questions than answers, but he felt something from her. She was stronger, she was a survivor. That was not something you could pick up on so simply, especially when in such a condition. He had already felt a respect for her, not feeling the condition she was in was one she should ever be placed in again.

His mind then went over how he came to this place. A spatial disturbance, some kind of weakness in reality? What had pulling him and the woman into the world they now resided. Was it a world? Was it a dream? The better question would be if anyone else was aware that this was not what they were used to, not where they originated? Or had some actually originated here? What was the flow of time, the laws of this space? Maybe there was not much of a difference, maybe there was. Thinking on such a topic could take one an eternity to find an answer to all those questions whilst just sitting about, let alone an answer that satisfies. He would deal with things as they came, not worrying or fretting over any one thing. The main concern would be keeping the woman safe and supporting her and her wellbeing. She was the only anchor he would have to anything to be considered reality, a constant. Together their chances and efforts, to whatever, would be greater than alone. So he would act with that in mind.

Whatever or whoever laid out beyond the boundaries of what they already knew of this area was a mystery. Eventually they would need to branch out, explore, get a feel for the area and all things surrounding. It had not been long, but it somehow felt too quiet. He knew that for the moment these thoughts would remain such, and not be turned to action just yet. As much as the unknown would need to be turned to the known, survival would be a must. Surviving with dead weight was not something that ever ended in success. Too much time put into thought. His prodding of one of the potatoes came to a halt as he placed the fork down, standing upright to make his way over to the bedridden woman. It was about time he understood her, and the situation better.[• ]

Awoken in an unfamiliar land Empty Re: Awoken in an unfamiliar land

Post by Sinderi Wed Feb 17, 2016 10:07 pm

The phantasm seemed to get closer and closer. Strange… Very strange indeed. For a mere illusion this image was remarkably sharp. Slowly the elliptical shaped pupils within the flaming red of her iris narrowed. It was obvious now that she was waking up. Her energy levels were evening out nicely, and a steady flow of Xiumbar flowed through her veins. Circulating her blood through her body and doing whatever was necessary to keep her body running on as little fuel possible. A pleasant scent had filled the hut, yet it failed dramatically at drawing out her hunger. It showed in her expression. It was still as cold and uncaring as it had been the moment she opened her eyes. Now being approached Sinderi pushed herself up, bringing herself to a sitting a position. It was uncomfortable to be wrapped up in some sort of blanket for long. To be fair, it even was slightly frightening. Automatically her hand slid towards her right thigh. Cohibete was missing. That… was not a pleasant conclusion.

Sinderi’s eyes narrowed rapidly and she took a hold of the blanket, cloth, whatever had been draped over her nude body. In one swift movement she had swung her legs off of the bed and placed her feet firmly on the ground. That was when she noticed the stinging of her raw and blistered skin. Frostbite. Just what she needed. Though it was a very obvious sign that wherever she had been before the climate was much different. It confirmed to herself as well that she was not hallucinating. She could actually feel the pain of the rough floor pressing into that weak skin. Her back had straightened, making sure she stood tall even if she was a mere 5 foot 7. Thin she was as well, looking a lot more like a walking skeleton than the battle hardened warrior she was a long time ago. And yet there she stood without fear of the one who was in front of her. Her left hand was held out with the palm facing him directly, fingers spread out as far as she could. That sleepy expression had dissolved to trade places with a rather serious one. “Where is my weapon.” Not a trace of question was in her tone. It was a command. Commanding a stranger might seem strange, but in this situation she couldn’t care less. He had taken the liberty to remove her clothes and weapon. She had the right to demand it back now. No, she hadn’t bothered to look around yet. Would any sane being look around when you’re stripped from clothes and being approached? Her voice mirrored her cold expression from before. Carrying very little change in tone, yet it was melodic in a sense. Some odd accent lingered on her vowels and a couple of consonants. Alas, it was not a well-known accent on the face of the earth. Raven hair cascaded over her shoulders, hiding the scars on her neck and that pale skin quite well where it reached. Now she simply stared at the male before her. Ready to lash out if need be, and sit back down if he proved cooperative and docile. Despite this obviously aggressive approach, she still had manners. This being had pulled her out of a certain death situation. If neither of them lashed out, they could speak calmly with each other. Yet if conflict arose it was highly likely either of them would be shut down.

[• ]It was just as he turned and made his way to her that she had made a move for her weapon. He knew, and he didn't blame her in the least. What caught his eye is how she rose, and her demeanor. She had confronted the situation boldly. She took a commanding presence. In any other situation, he would have ripped the head from her shoulders. She had gotten his respect for the attempt in itself. She was not weak, she was not about to stand down just because she was unaware of his nature or intent. He stared at her a moment and gave thought to the situation and her response. He turned from her, swiftly folding her clothing and items into a pile. Her favored weapon placed upon the folded pile that he held. He turned to her, dropping to his left knee. He would lower his head and remain silent.

He would wait until she had begun or finished dressing before he came out with his questions and informed her of what theories he had about their current situation. He was sure the last thing one would enjoy is being interrogated or being told much of anything before that had the chance to gather themselves. So there he would remain, head lowered so as to give a sense of privacy along with respect. The chance to avoid conflict and have a positive or at least neutral first impression was something he understood the value of, so defying or disrespecting her was not something he would do, if he could avoid it. He did have pride and valued respect of his own. So as long as she did not cross a line, he would not lash out at her.

He was quite interested in what she would have to say or ask, and his thoughts lingered upon that in anticipation as he estimated how much longer until he had to check the food that was being prepared. The hut had been warm for some time then, and seemed to be close to reaching what would be its average level of warmth. With food, heat, and shelter, things seemed to be going in the right direction. The only thing to ensure is that the two of them would not only be on the same page, but come to some kind of agreement or partnership. It wasn't a need or desire, but would make things optimal for the both of them. Though he couldn't help but wonder if he had felt inclined to this idea due to the state he found her in, and the fact he may have found her interesting as well. Things would soon unfold for him, he was certain.[• ]

Awoken in an unfamiliar land Empty Re: Awoken in an unfamiliar land

Post by Sinderi Thu Feb 18, 2016 12:16 pm

That certainly was a different reaction than she had anticipated. Centuries had passed since the last time someone knelt down before her. To be fair, it felt unnatural now. After years of minimal interaction, ages of absolute solitude, a man she didn’t know bowed his head and took perhaps one of the most submissive stances she knew of. One which revealed the neck. A spot on the body extremely vulnerable to damage. For a moment the woman was at a simple loss for words. Confusion emerged on her pale face as she lowered her hand and reached for the neat bundle of clothes. It was best to get dressed now he gave her the opportunity to do so.

The bed sheet she had used to cover herself was tossed over the male’s head. Simply to give herself a more secure feeling as she turned back around with her clothes in hand. He had exposed his neck to her, so she would expose her back. Even if it was for a mere minute. Deft hands re-bound the wide cotton fabric around her torso, covering her body from around her midriff up to her shoulders. A makeshift vest to bind her chest down and allow her as much freedom of movement as possible. Also hiding majority of the black lines visible on the backs of her shoulders and a large portion of scar tissue. With that set she slipped the remainder of her clothes on. Underwear, medieval styled black pants bound to the shins with some extra pieces of fabric, a shirt from the same time period with long sleeves and a chord lacing through the front to keep it shut. And lastly, her beloved weapon was bound tightly to her right thigh. The scabbard itself was attached to a double set of belts. One which went around her waist, the second shorter one around her leg itself. Not the most comfortable way to holster a weapon, but very effective. It wouldn’t swing or bound that way. Her cloak was the only thing she left aside now, and with a look over her shoulder she properly laced the front of her shirt to close it completely. More curious she became when he remained so silent. Odd… very odd. “Where did you take me to? What land is this?” Sinderi’s voice once more filled the hut. Strange how such a fiery creature could speak with such a cold tone. Two very expectable question she asked while double checking her attire and weapon. It felt good to have it at her side again.

Flaming hues drifted about once she had turned, taking in the smaller details of the hut. It was more spacious than she had thought at first. The ground still hurt her feet, but right now the fire drew her attention. Calmly she stepped about the male and moved forth. He had feared unnecessarily about the state of her clothes. As she proved the moment she stuck her hand right into the fire. Warmth. Exactly what she needed right now. Her left hand remained in the flames as she sat down, visibly enjoying the flames that danced around her thin digits. After greeting the flames her head turned once again, resting her gaze on the unknown male.

Awoken in an unfamiliar land Empty Re: Awoken in an unfamiliar land

Post by Aris Thu Feb 18, 2016 8:40 pm

[• ]After she had taken her belongings, the cover that was used to insulate her would be tossed on him. Underneath the cover and his lowered head hid a grin. His eyes went up to observe her, and his head shook gently. The cover over his head, anything used to obstruct his view could be seen through. So full frontal and rear views were seen completely. Out of respect, even though she would never know, he closed his eyes. As attractive as she was, she was still not in the best condition and his mind wandered to the markings and scars across her body. Yes, she was strong and it was clear she had been through a lot. She was no stranger to the battlefield and had the remnants of this truth was laid out upon her body. It wouldn't be long before her voice broke the silence. He held his answer until he heard her make way to the fire and settle herself. He rose, tossing the cover to the bed and turning to face her in the same motion. His arms would fold over his chest as he looked to her.

The tone used would be calm and direct. "I have not been here long. Asleep, I had been resting in bed one moment, out in the grass the next. I do not know what this world is, it's origins or nature. I came to this hut first, examined it. I had planned to explore and find out more about this land, the unique tree having caught my attention first. That tree, a bit past the tree line is where I found you, between the roots of the tree. From there I brought you here. There is firewood in the corner, food in a trunk and three cooked potatoes in the pot. I am Aris. I mean you no harm. He leaned forward just a bit, giving a polite nod as he reached into the pot, pulling out a potato with his left hand. He held the potato for a moment as it let off a steady trail of steam and heat. Bringing it to his mouth to take a quick bite, over half of the potato would be taken into his mouth and chewed. The other half left in his hand giving off more steam than before.

It was his intent to be sure she was comfortable, well fed with food or whatever information she required. He was fairly certain there was nothing she could tell him that he wanted or needed to know, and it seemed as though her condition was much better than anticipated. All that was left would be to get familiar with her and see what could unfold between them. That was one factor that could be handled, controlled, or made familiar readily. Everything else, the outside world and what mysteries it held could come later.[• ]

Awoken in an unfamiliar land Empty Re: Awoken in an unfamiliar land

Post by Sinderi Fri Feb 19, 2016 8:33 pm

Being clothed felt a lot more comfortable than being wrapped up in some sort of blanket on a bed. Being near a fire was even better. Questions popped up inside her head as she looked at the male. Where was this male from, who was he? Why did he seem so calm? And why didn’t he bat an eye when she stuck her hand in the flames? History had taught her that creatures with an appearance and behavior such as herself were feared. Hated even. People grabbed their crosses and uttered a short prayer as soon as they noticed these inhuman features. Yet he, he seemed so calm. Closely she followed his movements, taking in the smallest twitch of the tiniest muscle. From the ones in his legs below the leather pants to the movements of his eyelids. The more she became focused on these little things, the more she focused on his aura. An odd energy she found then, something she didn’t know, couldn’t match to something from her memory. For the first time in many years she stumbled upon an unknown being. He looked human enough. Rather, he looked exactly like a human at first glance.

His voice was what pulled her out of her clouded mind. Caused her to look startled even. A pleasant tone to the ears he had. Not too loud, not too soft. And he was straight to the point, giving her the information she asked for and just a tad bit more. Not to the point she’d get annoyed by the waste of air. No. It was exactly what she desired. Perhaps he was used to dealing with beings like her then? The way he had responded to her so far was precisely how she desired to be treated. Maybe making her feel in charge of the situation due to her somewhat messy physical state was his goal? Good thinking, if that was the case. Sinderi listened in silence and didn’t allow her eyes to wander from his own. A simple sign of respect for the one speaking. Nodding she signaled she understood what he said, sucking in a considerable amount of air to produce sound once again. “I see… That means I was not mistaken about laying myself to rest in a barn. During springtime no less.” A troubled expression contorted her pale features, moving her right hand towards her lip. Bending her index finger she pressed it against her lips, before her mouth opened and her filed teeth lightly closed onto the pale bony digit. As he pulled the potato from the pot she seemed to lose interest and finally averted her gaze. “Sinderi is what I’ve been named.” With a grunt she pulled her hand out of the fire and placed both of them on her knees, standing up from her position by the fire not long afterward.

It was easy to hear the rain on the roof, so going outside to look around was out of the question right now. She stepped away from the male but halted her movements, moving a hand to her left side before turning to look around the hut, then back to the one she now knew as Aris. “Did you happen to see a satchel near me?” A deep frown had formed in her brow, giving her expression an unexpectedly grim twist. It must be because of how pale and thin she was. A frowning skeleton. Unsettling to most to say the least. After asking her question she began to move around, opening the trunk with the food, and closing it right afterwards. Nothing of interest to her in there.

Awoken in an unfamiliar land Empty Re: Awoken in an unfamiliar land

[• ]Observing her and listening carefully to her words, he said nothing. It wasn't until she finally rose and mentioned her satchel that he would prepare to speak, holding off just a bit as she moved toward the trunk. His tone was still calm, and he would get right to the point. "Everything that was on your person when I found you should be here. If you didn't have it on you, then most likely it is still where I found you. I can go return there and retrieve it for you, if that is your wish. Give the order and I will heed it at once." After he was finished speaking his left hand would be brought to his mouth as he ate what was left of his potato. He glanced down at his hand as it was pulled away from his face, wondering if perhaps the satchel was not brought through with her. He did not want to doubt her, or make any indication she was not believed, so he kept this to himself. His hands brushed across each other briskly so as to remove any lingering pieces of potato before he straightened his stance further, stretching a bit in that fashion.

He would bring himself over to the corner of the hut, taking a piece of wood that was a bit larger than most of the others. Making his way over to the fire, he would place it right on top of the lively flames to see them burn the wood with renewed vigor. He would pause, captivated by the dance of the flames and the little flickers of light that escaped the wood that was still under the newer one. The surface of his skin would become charged with electricity, a static hovering about him as he lost himself in the flames. A lingering sound of electricity crackling could be faintly heard. This would be the result of any lack of focus or self control.

This display was hardly visible, only felt and heard if one was attentive enough or having already been glancing in his direction. The power and capability he possessed was very great, the price of this being that he had to be in such a complete state of control and self-awareness to prevent unintended damage or wasted energy. So while aware attentive, he was able to contain and manage what he possessed. When distracted in the way that he had become, that control ceased or eased and allowed a more chaotic state of being. There he stood, staring into the fire. A lightning coil statue.[• ]

Awoken in an unfamiliar land Empty Re: Awoken in an unfamiliar land

What a strange man. Looked like he really did have the goal of making her feel in charge. “Why do you behave so submissive?” Her words were but a soft whisper to herself. Questioning the male’s action in a near inaudible voice. Leaning on the lid of the trunk she returned to her own thoughts. If her satchel hadn’t come along, she might actually have a bit of a problem now. Nothing severe yet. But, it could go south rapidly. And she was fully aware of that. The furrow in her brow didn’t smooth out and the longer she thought the deeper it seemed to become. What would she do if it turned out she lost that bag. What if it was still where she had gone to sleep? If this was some pocket dimension she somehow ended up in there could be horrible consequences for the one finding that bag. A headache announced itself and slowly Sinderi inhaled, held the breath, and released it after a few seconds. Calm down. There was no need to stress yet. Besides, there were even bigger concerns she hadn’t even thought about.

A little while she remained hunched over like that, before finally straightening her back and turning around. For a long time she allowed the silence to exist, her eyes locked onto the male. Again she felt an odd energy flowing from him. Again something she hadn’t seen before and couldn’t place. Now she was no longer sure what caused her headache. Was it the slowly awakening Huír, or this low humming sound of an electrical current. At least, that was the description of the sound given to her by the previously mentioned entity. The presence of another living being seemed to have sparked his interest. Narrowing her flaming gaze she stared at Aris. Such, what she could only guess magic, was something she was not familiar with. Intensifying slowly she felt how the hairs on her neck stood up. Tickled by the sudden static charge in the center of the hut. Just what was this male? “Aris.” Her tone remained the same. Cold, unchanging, unwavering. Yet demanding his attention. “You claimed to bare no ill will. Yet you’re excreting your power in front of me. Should I feel threatenend?” A fraction did her head tilt. Almost mimicking a curious puppy, but with a sincerity that could be described as eerie. The look of someone debating whether or not arming themselves was the best idea. Though it proved that the both of them were familiar with a different world than the simple slice of life. Which would make explaining things a lot easier down the line.

Moh sindrei, you must find your belongings.

Lowly did the voice echo in the back of her mind. Rumbling as if it originated from the depths of the abyss. Seemed herself, and this male both got lost in thought for a while. Shaking her head she stepped forward, snatched her cloak from where she had placed it on the bed, and put it on. Priorities were made. The contents of that bag were too valuable not to look for it. Even if the weather had made one of the worst possible turn for her that would not deter her from going outside. A buckle on her shoulder kept the cloak together, while the large hood concealed her face fully. All to prevent her face from coming in contact with the icy rain. “Lead me to where you found me. Now.”

Awoken in an unfamiliar land Empty Re: Awoken in an unfamiliar land

[• ]It was as his name was spoken that caused his entire body to tense, causing the static to pause for that following moment. Something like a flicker. As she beckoned a question, his eyes twitched and flickered rapidly just before the static and the charge upon his person faded. There was a hesitation in him, and before long she was prepared to go out into the cold. Her command would be to be led to where she had originated in this land. If it was wise or not for her to even leave the hut so soon after being in such poor condition would be a debatable thought. Yet it would be a thought not questioned aloud. "As you command." His right hand found it's place over the left side of his chest, as the left knee dropped to the floor of the hut while his head lowered. This position lasted for but a second as he dashed for the door of the hut, right hand swiftly pulling it toward him as he turned his torso enough to burst through the small space at just the right moment.

He was very agile and fast, just a second or so later making it around ten feet from the hut, and ten the next before slowing to much more ordinary a pace. His speed watered down to a brisk jog as he made his way toward the tree line and eventually beyond. Looking out from the entrance to the hut, the place of the twisted tree would be to the diagonal right, the hut being about 45 meters from the tree line. Soon he would move past the first of the trees, making his way to the particular twisted tree as he slowed to a walking pace. His eyes scanning the area for what would be the hiding place of her satchel.

He would turn his head slightly in her general direction as he spoke out, speaking a bit louder than he usually would, to ensure he would be heard. "This is where you had been when I found you." He was somehow doubtful that she would find what she sought. If It was not upon her, then he would not have paid it mind it was near, perhaps. Maybe there was a chance she would find what she wanted, it seemed to him that it was of great importance to her. This made him slightly curious.[• ]
