: As Shard and Nyxiest made their was in the direction of the Tower, Everything kept Remaining still and the Shadows Stayed Calm. The odd sounds of the Voice still Traveled but it was coming from above, maybe a Second floor? Clearly This Second Floor was no Easy Task, it curled around the tower Resting over the hanging edge and drop off of the world. The Stairs made of Bone were broken and falling apart until you reached a spot where tiny fingers tips would press into the stone work and climb up to the Second Floor and pulling yourself up. Once pulled up into This small Hole in the side of the Tower there was a small Opening which inside rested a Dark and never lit doorway. This doorway on purpose was facing away from the world so no one would ever see it and what Rested up there to never be found. :

The Shadow Summons Empty Re: The Shadow Summons

On the edge of the world in the midnight winter, the fabled tower of Evernight jutted up precariously on the black cliffs to overlook the swirling ether in the Nothingness below. Its foundation had been built with bones of the fallen, so long ago that they had grown almost as dark as the inky stone reaching high above them in the black velvet sky. Narrow, steep stairs curled around the edge of the edge; broken bones and slick with ice, no rail or handhold to keep one's balance gave the risk of falling off the face of the dream with one wrong step. The night had grown still but it gave no comfort as the small voice cried out to be unlocked, a child's plea that echoed across the vast emptiness of this truly desolate place. At first, Shard did not see the small opening in the wall, just a miserable path wrought of death leading to nowhere.

The journey had been a long trudge through knee deep snow but Shard did not even feel the cold, he was so resolute to aid this soul in need. He crept slowly up the steps, cautious in the dark and as he made tedious progress he could faintly make out the hole in the wall above his reach. He pressed his palms against the stony bones and felt over his head a place where he could just grasp onto and pull his way up into the darkened alcove towards the sounds of suffering. He strained and scrambled, catching his feet against the wall to help hoist himself over the edge and once he was safely within, he let out a breath he didn't realize he had been holding. He stood and peered over the edge of the sharp drop... There had better be another way to get back out of this place...

Shard's eyes peered through the shadows of this darkened nook, barely able to make out a door across the way.  There was a hungry edge to the air, it crept along the back of his neck and made him shiver. There had always been tales of this place, he had dismissed them all as overactive imaginations mixed with exaggerations; those in the thrall of excited storytelling tend to both of those things but now he could see some validity to the things he had heard. On top of the ominous mood of the air itself, there was a presence here almost overwhelming with tangible malice. Shard steeled himself and stepped closer to that dark door, reaching out to touch it lightly with his fingertips.

The air was cold upon her flesh but it was nothing compared to the chill in her heart. Nyx kept up with Shard easily enough, in the sky above his head she tracked him ever closer to the ominous tower. She couldn't shake off this feeling of deja vous, she couldn't shake this feeling of dread.

Nothing good would come from this place...

She watched silently as shard made his way up the precarious stairway on the edge of the world and only when he pulled himself up into an opening on the side of the wall, did she dare draw closer. Something dark and hungry sucked at her vitality, something voracious that would consume her from the inside should she let her guard down. She didn't step across the threshold, rather she hovered right outside the tower wall and peered in to watch Shard approach the darkened door. She could not keep herself from trembling, some terrifying memory right below the surface threatened to drag her down with it. Something from when she was very young. It was almost as though whatever force was pulling at her was trying to stir up the deepest of her troubles, things left alone in the dark a long time ago. She didn't want to remember. Whatever it may be, she didn't want to see it. Nyx took a breath and steeled herself, she shoved her fear and her unremembered memories back down and suffocated them beneath a small spark of courage it took everything she had to summon up (especially in the face of this unsettling circumstance). Her hand reached beneath her cloak, tiny fingers wrapped around a small pendant she had always worn and she knew. She finally knew what this key opened.

: The Door and the Shadows in the area did quite grow silent that strange feeling of danger disappeared until that hand suddenly touched that pendant, Once it was felt, That Door knob and door tumbler started to glow a purple Shade as it grew brighter the more she drew towards it, much like it was meant to be this way. The voice still behind the door spoke as it was clear and last faint, in was just behind that door. " Please let me out of here, Please unlock me" : This Voice was familiar in fact it was so familiar that they both have heard it... it was Nyxiest Own voice. But How? something or another part of her was trapped inside the room or maybe over the long time that she had that pendant it grew to be part of her. Picking up her minor ways, from Voice and even things about her lifestyle, Maybe another piece of the puzzle was about to make sense to her. This may even bring her more knowledge of her past or even her future. Both of these Events started to be revealed as this door started to glow welcoming them both. What was behind it was unknown but what was here felt strange and yet drew them in. :

The menace to the air faded away, or had it been his imagination in the first place?

He had never given much stock to supernatural tales of evil anyway. Shard shook his head, feeling rather silly that he had let himself spook so easily. He had almost forgotten the little Thystle from the Still and he turned to see her fluttering quietly at the entrance to the tower. As she reached to grasp something around her neck, the door lock began to glow - brighter the nearer she drew - and the voice cried out again... He stared in confusion at Nyx as she spoke from behind that door yet there she was not saying a word.

"What kind of trick is this?"

He wondered for a moment if she had been playing games with him, but his anger was quelled before it even began to simmer, he was drawn to that violet glow and he did not follow that voice all the way to the edge of the world for nothing. In a moment of reckless action, He took quick steps and snatched the little Thystle right out of the air, easily plucking the small key, chain and all, right off of her neck. He held her lightly as so not to crush her feathery wings but he did not loose her as he slid the little key into the lilac lock perfectly and twisted it with a metallic click. He grabbed the knob and slowly he opened the door. He would put this weirdness to rest once and for all!

Upon the opening that lock the Energy from the door moving and shifting backwards would almost cause a pull or a suction it seemed. That gaining Energy moved out and reached like a Shadowy shifting Glove pulling them both forwards. That Power and pull almost took them by storm as it drug them both into the room and that door moving and closing behind them. That key flinging from the door as it was opened so quickly, it could be heard bouncing down some stairs in this dim lit room as little puffs of Dust would lift up as that air traveled by them both. The Door was unlocked now from the outside, but that key was down the stairs and on the other side was another lock. The Keys seemed to be required to use to leave and return to this place but where was this?, The energy in the room seemed to spiral around making it clear that something was there and maybe even question where they were..... < Moving to Shadows Unfold - The Sealed Door - Topic >
